Marilyn Fernandes

Marilyn grew up in a quiet neighborhood in Georgetown, Ontario. She currently lives in Keswick, Ontario. She has been painting and creating Art since she was just a young girl. Marilyn studied Art in high school, and later became an Art instructor for children. She was an Art instructor for 20 plus years, at the Cedar Ridge Creative Center in Scarborough.

Marilyn gets her inspiration from nature and animals. She loves capturing unique expressions or poses, and unusual scenery. The mediums Marilyn uses are acrylic, watercolor, and conte. She also enjoys creating things with her hands, using a variety of materials. In fact, she has hosted and participated in many craft shows over the years, selling dolls, Christmas ornaments, magnets, and much more.

Marilyn was a member of the Art Guild of Scarborough for over 20 years, and she is currently a member of the NGA (Newmarket Group of Artists). Marilyn has participated in many Spring and Fall shows with the Art Guild of Scarborough, but she has also participated in shows in Unionville, Port Perry, Scarborough, and Newmarket.

Marilyn has received several “Special Merit” awards from the Art Guild of Scarborough. During a contest at Cedar Ridge Creative Center her painting was selected to make prints for Christmas cards for the city of Toronto, and that painting was later added to the permanent collection at Cedar Ridge Creative Center. The Scarborough Mirror published Marilyn for her accomplishment of winning the contest.
