Artist Ellen Downe is a graduate of Georgian College, where she studied Design Arts, majoring in Textile Design. She began painting somewhere along the way, and painting has become her primary passion. She is a long time Georgina resident, whose work is inspired by the flora and fauna in her garden, and by sunsets over beautiful Lake Simcoe. She paints primarily in acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, with occasional ventures into oils, and into quilting. 

She has participated in the annual Georgina Studio Tour for many years, and displays some pieces in the gift shop of the Georgina Gallery of Art & Culture, in Sutton, Ontario.
